Position:
Postdoctoral
Researh Fellow in Cancer Bioinformatics and Systems Biology
Description:
A postdoctoral
position is available in Dr. Zhang-Zhi Hu’s lab to conduct research in areas of
cancer bioinformatics and systems biology in the Lombardi Comprehensive
Cancer Center at
Lombardi
at
Research in this newly funded lab will focus on cancer bioinformatics and systems biology to facilitate molecular target identification for cancer diagnosis and therapeutic development. Specifically, we identify public omics data sets in specific areas of cancer research, such as drug resistance and metastasis, and conduct bioinformatics analysis of various omics data types (e.g., microarray, MS/MS, PPI, SNP, CGH, miRNA) to provide interpretation and to generate hypothesis through pathway and network modeling. We also develop capabilities in integrating and curating protein isoforms and posttranslational modification data to enable accurate pathway and network modeling for specific tissue or cancer types. In addition we participate in collaborative projects with laboratories in analyzing large-scale cancer data for hypothesis formulation and further experimental validation.
The candidates will have a Ph.D. degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, molecular biology/biochemistry, or related disciplines. Experiences with programming, large-scale data sets processing, and use or development of bioinformatics databases and software tools are preferred. The candidate should have excellent analytical and communication skills and be highly motivated.
